I have some books that I have accumulated over 2 1/2 years while being a student at Kapi‘olani Community College that I would like to sell. I am planning on taking a COMG class at UHM also.

I hope those of who are taking classes at a community college or university the best of luck and to finish strong this next week.

I hope everyone is getting some sleep because studies have shown that if you sleep before the exam then students do better than those who cram all night...but I guess that is to their discretion.

I have to get back to studying now..and writing papers!

Happy studying and sleeping!

How was your week?

I hope everyone had a great week. I hope we all started on the paper because it is due in less than two weeks! Yikes! I hope all your classes and lives are going well.

It is sad to hear that Paul Walker from the Fast and Furious movies has died in a violent car crash in which speed was a factor. It is ironic because he starred in a movie with fast cars and fast chases and he died in a fast car that was speeding.

It is also sad to hear that Nelson Mandela has passed. I am sorry to say that I keep getting Nelson Mandela and Morgan Freeman switched around because to me, they look alike.

On one of my favorite shows, "Little Couple", the mother of Will and Zoey, Jen has a rare type of cancer and by the sound of it, she is making excellent progress in eliminating the cancer.

I have noticed that driver in general are only focused on themselves by driving fast and not paying much attention because they are multitasking or dozing off because of long hours at work and/or schooling and/or family to take care of.

Hawaii is supposed to be full of Aloha and the easy going spirit but anyone who lives and works in Hawaii can attest to the long hours with very little wages some jobs even less than minimal wages that no one can live on because of bills (electric, food, water, transportation, medical, schooling, etc) to pay. Even at that, some people are living on the streets and in their cars.  Housing itself is not cheap and so is food which is why people are living on the streets. Some people have 2-3 jobs and is very tired.

I am going into the Education department and teachers are not getting paid very much despite what they do and how many hours they put into their lesson planning and grading. On top of that, they have to teach to the tests, which lessens creativity in students and teacher and teachers have to deal with troubled students and parents. I heard that teachers only have $150 to decorate their classroom and by the end of the school year they have used some of their own money to provide better services (supplies, tools, etc)  to their students especially with elementary, middle and high school students as well as those with disabilities.

Anyone going to UH manoa next semester?

Anyone know of any ways to earn extra money??

thanksgiving

Happy belated turkey day! I hope none of you were crazy enough to miss thanksgiving dinner ( or lunch) to go to your favorite store to save some money on whatever it is you wanted to buy.

I hope you are having a relaxing time at home and not too much in a rush. I am trying to take it easy on this 4 day weekend and catch up on things as this is the last "vacation" from the Fall 2013 school grind.

finding my way

So next sem I will be taking 3 classes at kcc and 1 class at UHM. I am in the process of trying to find which class I want to take and it is taking time away from my homework to get me across the finish line.

I am also stressed out about money for UHM as well as for other things to buy that money can buy...like an Apple laptop.... and tuition.

I am also trying again for my drivers license.

In my own world...

What to write about. My thoughts are all scrambled right now. Well it is raining right now so it is a perfect time for a nap only thing is that I already took a nap and need to do homework due tomorrow.

Hopefully next week I will write more but I still have to make decisions. I am also looking for a job on oahu. Hopefully somewhere in kahala mall until manoa. I have to pay for my own college education and will only be recieving my Associates in Arts (Liberal Arts degree) in December... I do have an on campus job but it is not sufficient anymore. It is still needed.

This week has been awefully tough with decisions of the future and immediate future. It is tough making decisions on your own because it is YOUR future and not anyone elses.

There are more things to contemplate and resolve so I must be going now..

10/26 random thoughts

Hello,

I do not know what to write...well lets start off with congratulations on surviving midterms! I am eager to know my com midterm grade.

Right now the sun is shining in the 808 state (HI). Did you know that HI stands for Hawaiian Islands and not Hawai'I as I frequently thought before. Well my friend came back to the states from deployment internationally.

I do not know what else to talk about...

Thoughts...

This weekend has been the weekend to just relax and stay indoors to do homework. I took this time to prepare for my exams. I took this time to gather and organize myself for the remaining weeks of this semester.

This week the government reopened. Why do we have so much debt? How is it going to get repaid? I was talking with my mom and she said that we are probably not the most influential country in the world anymore. We probably owe more to China and other countries and we do not have a happy and healthy population. More and more health problems come up each and everyday and it seems like no one is trying to take care of the problem. I think this is why people do not like to live in America. I no longer think that this is a "free" country when everything need a monetary value and that people are more worried about money than happiness. We are no longer safe. It is a dangerous world we live in. We do not need temporary fixes but rather we need long term fixes.

Thoughts

It has been a "lazy" weekend. Well the government reopened. I do not understand this debt ceiling stuff. I know we are in a lot of debt....but how did we accumulate it? How do we get it to zero out? This country is not living up to its name...."free country" because everything is money related. Why are we not looking for answers to mental health and other health problems? I think we should take care of mental health and make sure that we just do not do it for the money. This is sad that we are putting a dollar amount on things... people in other countries are happier and Healthier. Why cant we do it for love and compassion? This just fustrates me. I do not believe we have any power if we are in debt to other countries.

This world is a scary world to live in because of money, guns, power and abductors. We are no longer safe. We have to watch out for our backs as well as our friends and loved ones.

Thoughts

What to write about... well there has been a lot on my mind. I am trying to find an off campus job. Preferably at an elementary school (I think I am on the track to become a teacher) or an administrator job. Something that is flexible with hours and I would like to have benefits (or some sort of benefits). With this government shutdown I do not know whats going to happen and there are more and more people looking for jobs.

I think the lawmakers should not be able to keep their paychecks during this shutdown because 1) most/ all of them are rich, 2) if they are rich they do not need to pay off mortgages (that is a weird spelling word), 3) I think they want to be even more richer (as the saying goes, the rich get richer and the poor get poorer). Soon everyone will be homeless amid all these new housing that is being built and have even more health problems. This new Obama healthcare plan is killing most people because they are ineligible because they have other healthcare plans such as HMSA, UHA, etc.

Why do things cost money? Why cannot we go back to a barter system? Why could not Congress lower the cost of living, give workers benefits and paid time off like in other countries? I think US would be more healthier, more balanced and less rushed (stressed). If it emulated some other countries.

The first freewrite blog

This is my first freewrite blog. This will be a challenge every week since I am usually not a blogger. At first I did not know what to write about then it clicked...I can write about this government shutdown.

Can one man other than the president of the United States bring back the government? At any time, any day he wants to?

The more days the federal workers are out of their jobs, the more money they are loosing and they could end up on the streets. The government should have made things a little bit cheaper or even get things for a discount or something? In this government shutdown, why are lawmakers still making money and those furloughed workers such as NOAA still "working" without pay? This is ridiculous.

We should go back to our bartering ways or make things cheaper so that people will not have to work as hard. This healthcare thing is getting out of hand. EVERYTHING is costing more. Tell me how many of you enjoy life?? Or better question how many people have a balanced life?

Everywhere is loosing money. The people in the government do not realize that they rely on tourism in DC area to help support our economy and if they are not paying their security guards, NOAA and others who are still working but working for free those people do not feel obligated to do their job...Tourists who are turned away now, overseas and internationally may not want to come to DC because of their experience of being turned away at their dream opportunity.

At this rate people should rethink about how our government is being run...maybe congressmen should have a panel of judges for this kind of situations.
